Siam Lee murder case: Investigator details arrest of suspect

A private investigator involved in the arrest of a man in connection with the kidnapping and murder of Durban North woman, Siam Lee has explained how his team removed themselves completely from social media.

"About a week ago, I advised my staff that we were to take our heads out of social media and step away completely from all the gossip and look at this investigation holistically and back at the beginning - discounting everything we have ever heard and everything we had learnt," he says.

Private investigator, Brad Nathanson says a flood of information online made it difficult to establish exactly what happened. He says they then received information on the possible whereabouts of the suspect's vehicle.

"We were able to meet with an informant who gave us an address where we could find the Vito in which Siam was abducted. We found the Vito at a house in Assegay. It was parked off in the garage and it had been damaged post an accident," he says. 

Police confirmed that a 29-year-old man was arrested on Wednesday eveningOfficers say a black Mercedes Benz Vito and an unlicensed firearm were also seized at the home.
