Siam Lee case: Murder accused remains in custody

The 29-year-old man accused of kidnapping and murdering Durban North woman, Siam Lee will remain behind bars, waiting to hear if the State intends bringing more charges against him.

Philani Ntuli appeared in the Durban Magistrate's Court yesterday. 

Ntuli is already facing a string of charges, including murder, kidnapping, defeating the ends of justice, reckless and negligent driving and fraud - among others. 

He was arrested in Assagay, near Hillcrest last week after private investigators and police swooped on his home. 

State prosecutor, Surekha Mariemuthu asked for the case to be postponed until 2 February for further investigations. 

She said other cases are have also been opened against Ntuli in Umbilo and Pietermaritzburg. 

Lee's disappearance earlier this month led to a massive city-wide search

The 20-year-old was last seen outside an alleged brothel in Margaret Maytom Avenue in Durban North. 

Her badly burnt body was found in a sugarcane field in New Hanover in the Midlands two days later.
