Shock as Durban teacher is shot in front of pupils

The South African Democratic Teachers' Union says it's completely shocked and saddened by the murder of a Durban teacher in front of her pupils.
Muzi Zulu was shot in the face after getting into a scuffle with armed robbers.
The gang had entered the premises of Sea Cow Lake Secondary School on Friday and robbed pupils who were attending extra classes of their belongings.
Three suspects were arrested on the same day.

SADTU's spokesperson Nomarashiya Caluza says such incidents are instilling fear in teachers and pupils.
"Something that we always say is that schools are no longer safe such that it is so easy for criminals to just barge into our schools and do whatever they want.
"We continue to please with the communities to love and protect their schools. It is only when communities members are ready to protect their schools that these killings can stop because people who are doing these things come from the community."
