Shark nets removed from south coast beaches
Updated | By Steve Bhengu
People heading to beaches on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast this weekend are being urged to stay out of the water, for now.
The KwaZulu-Natal Sharks Board says the majority of shark nets between Scottburgh and Port Edward have been removed from the water in anticipation of the arrival of the sardines.

The board's Mike Anderson-Reade says they have been tracking the silver fish along the Eastern Cape coastline towards our shores.
He says the shoals are accompanied by thousands of dolphins, Cape gannets and sharks just north of Mkhambati - about 180km south of Port Edward.
Anderson-Reade says the sardines could arrive here in about two days' time.
"The nets have been taken out from Scottburgh to Port Edward. Bathing will then be restricted or closed depending on what the lifeguards decide to do. We will continue to monitor the situation and if things change we will manage the gear accordingly," he said.
