Severe thunderstorms over KZN on Monday, heavy downpours for week ahead

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has warned of severe thunderstorms in parts of KwaZulu-Natal from Monday afternoon.
It says heavy downpours in the province's western and southern areas will be accompanied by strong damaging winds and possibly hail.
"Severe thunderstorms are expected over western and southern KZN today (Monday), accompanied by strong damaging winds, hail, localised structural damages and lightning strikes leading to injuries to humans and livestock."
Places like Durban, Riverview, Pietermaritzburg, Ladysmith, Mooi River, Kokstad, Underberg, Newcastle, Margate, Richards Bay and Ixopo are said to be affected.
"Hail which might lead to vehicle damages and well as server lighting strikes leading to injuries.
"For the rest of the week, the weather will be dominated by showers and thunderstorms, so communities are advised to be careful," says forecaster Wisani Maluleke.
