The South African Police Service has welcomed the 292-year sentence given to an Esikhaleni serial rapist.

The Mtubatuba High Court threw the book at Mhlonipheni Mjadu yesterday.
He was sentenced to seven life terms for the multiple crimes he committed over several years in Ndaye.
These include rape, attempted rape, robbery and housebreaking.

SAPS spokesperson, Thulani Zwane says Mjadu's reign of terror came to an end thanks to DNA.
"In 2016, it is alleged that he overpowered a police constable of his firearm - in the Ezikhaleni area. During the scuffle, the police constable managed to arrest the suspect," Zwane said.
Zwane says while he was in custody, he was linked to all 19 charges.
