The body of the mother of one was found by a municipal worker at the Shallcross Sports Ground in 2014.

She'd been stabbed and beheaded.

Sentencing in the case was meant to have taken place in March but an outstanding report meant Murugan's family had to wait a little longer for justice.

At the time Murugan's sister, Jennet said they were hoping for the maximum sentence to be handed down

Traditional healer Sibonakaliso Mbili, was found guilty of the murder along with teenagers Thuso Thelejane, Mlungisi Ndlovu and Mbali Magwaba who were all 18 when they were convicted in January.

When judgement was handed down by Judge Thoba Poyo-Dlwati, Jennet said they were satisfied that justice had been done.

"In the case of accused number 3, 4 and 1 - I was very pleased to hear that the judge has noted that they lied and that their stories were inconsistent.

A fifth accused, Falakhe Khumalo, confessed to his role in the crime and is already serving a life sentence. While a sixth accused was acquitted of being an accessory to the murder.
