Desiree Murugan's family calls for maximum prison sentence

The family of murdered Shallcross woman, Desiree Murugan, has called for justice - saying her killers must be given the maximum possible sentence.

Eighteen-year-old's Thusi Thelejane, Mlungisi Ndlovu and Mbali Magwaba, as well as traditional healer Sibonakaliso Mbili and his assistant Vusumuzi Gumede - had been been charged with Murugan's murder.
Her headless body was found at the Shallcross Sports Ground near Chatsworth, in 2014.
Falakhe Khumalo, who confessed to his role in the crime a month after the killing, is already serving a life sentence.

A Durban High Court Judge acquitted Gumede of being an accessory to murder yesterday.
Mbili and the teenagers will remain behind bars - until their sentencing in March.
Reacting to the verdict of the three men and one women being found guilty, Murugan's younger sister, Jennet, says the family is satisfied that justice has been served.
