Select reliable drivers for scholar transport: IFP

The IFP is calling on parents to make sure their children have safe transport to and from school.
The party has been commenting ahead of the new academic year - which officially got underway at government schools today.
Spokesperson, Thembeni Madlopha-Mthethwa says parents must make sure vehicles that transport their children are roadworthy and drivers are qualified.
"We are urging, and pleading - look for credible drivers and drivers with driver's licences that can take passengers from one spot to another," he says.

Meanwhile, an unknown number of children were hurt when a taxi overturned in Umlazi - south of Durban this morning. Paramedics treated six children at the scene.
They say other pupils were taken to hospital in private vehicles.
