Second suspect arrested in connection with Glebelands murder

Police have made another breakthrough into a murder case at the notorious Glebelands Hostel in Umlazi, south of Durban.

Officers have arrested a second suspect in connection with the murder of Sbongile Mtshali.

She was gunned down at a room she had been using as a tuck-shop at the hostel on the 26th of July.

Police said at the time two unknown men approached her pretending to be customers. They then opened fire and fled the scene on foot.

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says a 31-year-old man was arrested in connection with the murder in the early hour of yesterday morning.

Zwane says the second suspect was caught last night.

"Our Task Team, assisted by Public Order Policing, Umlazi SAPS and Durban Metro managed to arrest the second suspect at Glebelands. The suspect was arrested last night after members received information on his whereabouts," he said.

Both suspects are due to appear in the Umlazi Magistrate's Court on murder charges soon.
