Scores injured following chemical leak at Germiston factory

Dozens of people are receiving treatment following an apparent chemical leak at a factory in Germiston, east of Johannesburg.
Up to a hundred people are believed to be affected by the leak in La Bassee Road this morning - the exact number is yet to be confirmed due to multiple emergency services responding to the scene.
ER24's Russel Meiring says those injured had experienced breathing difficulties.

"It's understood that the factory had evacuated the workers after one of the chemicals apparently leaked. Local authorities have closed the road while emergency services set up a triage area.
"Upon assessment, we discovered that numerous patients were experiencing difficulties in breathing. The patients were treated for the injuries and thereafter transported to various hospitals for further treatment," he said.
