SASSA rubbishes claims they're distributing free school uniforms
Updated | By Nomfundo Ngcobo
Messages circulated on Twitter and WhatsApp, saying that the SA Social Security Agency in KZN is handing out uniforms to child grant beneficiaries.
However, SASSA has dismissed claims that it's distributing free school uniforms.
The Agency's Sandy Godlwana says 30% of the Social Relief of Distress budget is being used to procure school uniforms for schools identified by district municipalities.

"We then get lists from principals of learners who then request for Sassa to procure the uniform and a tender is advertised for cooperatives to submit the quotations."
She says orders are issued and they procure the school uniforms for each of those schools that would be identified.
They're finalising orders for schools for the 2019/2020 financial year.
