SASSA KZN vows to continue fraud and corruption crackdown
Updated | By Gcinokuhle Malinga
The South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) in KZN says the recent arrest of a medical practitioner shows that its investigation into disability grant fraud, is bearing fruit.

The former KZN doctor, nabbed last week, and 11 other suspects are accused of defrauding SASSA to the tune of more than R25-million.
The 50-year-old man allegedly processed fraudulent disability grants between 2006 and 2008 in Ngwelezane, near eMpangeni.
SASSA's Sandy Godlwana says an agency official - who was sent to investigate the matter at the time - was shot and killed days after launching the probe.
"This will send a clear signal to all those involved in fraud and corruption and threatening our officials whilst they execute their duties."
The former doctor who appeared in a Durban court on Monday was released on bail. He and his co-accused's trial is set to begin in April.
Meanwhile, six people are currently serving life sentences for the murder of the SASSA official, back in 2008.
