SA's blood stocks running critically low
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
With the majority of South Africans confined to their homes, the SA National Blood Service says the 21-day lockdown has led to a serious decline in donations.

The service says there are only four days worth of blood supply available.
While pop up donor facilities at schools and businesses have been shut, donor centres remain open.

The group's Khensani Mahlangu is urging donors to come forward.
"I think it is realy important for the public to know that although we are in lockdown the need of blood does not cease."
"There are live-saving operations that still need to take place and chronically ill patients still need to receive their blood t stay healthy. It is important for us to continue to help those who need it."
