The South African Police Service is warning job seekers not to fall for scams or fake job postings online.
It's resumed its recruitment of police trainees, which was suspended due to the National State of Disaster and nationwide Covid-19 lockdown.
National police spokesperson Athlenda Mathe says they've seen several bogus job opportunities being shared on social media and other platforms.

"The department has not advertised any posts for entry-level police trainees currently."
Mathe says vacant posts have been advertised on the SAPS website.
She says those who initially applied for police training and are still waiting for a response can contact their nearest recruitment offices.

"Applicants who underwent all stages and were only awaiting the medical assessment will receive an automated short message service (SMS) from the respective SAPS provincial recruitment offices requesting them to report at a particular venue where their fingerprints will be processed to determine their criminal status or previous convictions.
"Applicants will also be expected to bring along the following original documents as well as three copies of each document: ID, Drivers Licence, National Senior Certificate NQF 6 qualification."
