Updated | By Lauren Beukes
A police officer has been killed in an accident on the M7 in Durban.

Garrith Jamieson from ALS Paramedics says medics were on the freeway on Wednesday morning attending to injured occupants of an overturned truck when a second crash happened before the N2.
"On arrival, paramedics found total devastation as a truck lost control whilst emergency personnel were preparing to recover the truck and ploughed into the accident scene. The truck ploughed into two vehicles, two trucks and two civilian vehicles.

"A total of three people are being treated on scene for injuries ranging from moderate to serious and will be transported to a nearby hospital."
The crash led to the closure in both directions between Bellville Bridge and the N2 interchange.
Jamieson has urged motorists to be extra cautious in the wet weather.
"ALS paramedics have treated and transported multiple casualties this morning already as a result of multiple collisions in and around the Durban area.”
