SAPS investigate two Glebelands Hostel murder cases

Police are investigating two more murder cases and one attempted murder at the notorious Glebelands Hostel in Umlazi, south of Durban.

One of the victims is understood to be a resident of Block 50. He was shot in his room on Friday. The second victim, a security guard, was parked at Block O when he was gunned down on Thursday.

His colleague was also injured.

This follows the shooting of a 26-year-old resident of Block 48 at a tavern not far from the housing complex a week ago.

Police spokesperson Thulani Zwane says they are looking into the murders.

"The first incident took place when a security guard and a colleague were attacked by unknown suspects. One security guard was killed while the second was wounded and taken to hospital for medical treatment", he said.

"The second incident took place when a 70-year-old man was attacked in his room at the hostel. There he was shot and killed", Zwane said.

Zwane says it is too soon to say if the incidents are related. Investigations continue.
