Santaco slams ‘lawless’ PMB taxi protest
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Taxi council Santaco has condemned the actions of some operators in Pietermaritzburg, who downed keys in protest on Monday.

The drivers staged an impromptu demonstration and used their vehicles to block access to Langalibalele and Boshoff roads.
They claim to have been slapped with heavy fines from uMsunduzi traffic cops.
Santaco's Sifiso Shangase says operators must bring their issues to the council first.

"They then decided to just demonstrate, and we're saying demonstration is the last resort. You need to negotiate these things and find out whatever that is being done is within the parameters of the law. If it is, nothing can be done."
"It can’t be a lawless country. You have crossed a red robot, knowing very well that you have crossed a red robot, and you need to pay for that. If you've parked or overloaded a vehicle, and you know that you have overloaded, then you need to be given a traffic offence for that because you have violated one of the road rules and regulations."
