Santaco mulling private partnership in bid to improve security in Ladysmith

Santaco in KZN says it's considering teaming up with private companies to boost security at Ladysmith's Klipriver Taxi Association.  

Santaco says that its apolitical stance is a matter of policy.

This after an executive council member and his daughter were killed on St Chads Road on Tuesday.

Sifiso Hadebe and his daughter were in a car when gunmen ambushed them. 

This is the second attack to rock the association in the space of a week.

Klipriver chair Bhekuyise Masondo was shot and killed at the weekend.

Santaco's Sifiso Shangase says the association's been dealing with a number of challenges for a while now.

He believes tensions began brewing when Masondo was re-elected chairperson.

"Unfortunately, after he and the others were now in the office, these incidents are taking place.

"I’m not saying they are being killed because of the elections, no. I'm basically giving you the total background of what has already emanated and what it is we have done with the province to try to bring stability and  peace within that association."
