The chairperson of the Klipriver Taxi Association was gunned down in his office on Friday.

Santaco's provincial manager, Sifiso Shangase, says they're still waiting for a police report on the circumstances surrounding the shooting.

"We are pleading to our members that whenever they are dealing with difficulty and difference that people have, at least negotiations are still an open door policy which we are promoting at Santaco rather than killing each other."

"And we are pleading that if there are challenges within that particular section where he's been operating, at least let us look for a long-term solution which is based on discussion and then probably by then will have peace and stability within the taxi industry."

Shangase says they've lost a giant in the taxi industry.

"This is one of the veterans within the taxi industry. He used to be part of the council as well. He was also part of the panel that interviewed me at that time he was the treasurer general of Santaco at a provincial level."
