Santaco says that its apolitical stance is a matter of policy.

Several minibuses belonging to a specific owner were targeted over the past few days.

No one has been injured.

Santaco's Sifiso Shangase was the second lot of vehicles that were burnt.

"Eventually they were relocated somewhere else with a security guard. But the guards were overpowered by these people. It's a continuation of this fight."

Shangase says law enforcement must urgently intervene.

"We don't have any strategy from our side.

"This happens at night when vehicles are parked, somebody comes and burns them. What can we do, these people might pretend to be a vagrant and come set the taxis on fire, but it's something we can say we have the situation under control.

"What we have proposed is to establish a security company and we have also committed ourselves to collaborate with police to ensure safety and stability is brought."
