Santaco distances itself from national shutdown

The South African National Taxi Council (Santaco) is distancing itself from a possible national shutdown over the high fuel prices.

Talks of the mobilisation have been making the rounds on social media.
The unconfirmed shutdown is apparently planned for Friday, with calls for government to do something about the runaway costs.

"We as Santaco have no connection with such and we distance ourselves with such a shutdown," says Santaco's Bafana Magagula.
"We confirmed to all our passengers or commuters that we are not part of that shutdown and we have not been approached or approached anyone in connection with that. However, we recognise the pressure that we have with fuel."
