Santaco calms for calm amid spate of KZN taxi killings
Updated | By Xolani Khumalo
The KwaZulu-Natal office of taxi council Santaco has called on members of the industry and communities to play their part in ending the scourge of taxi violence.

This comes after a 69-year-old taxi owner was shot dead on Gopalall Hurbans Road in the Tongaat CBD on Wednesday.
The murder comes after another shooting on Saturday, when a 52-year-old taxi owner was shot and killed in front of his family in Cornubia, north of Durban.
Santaco spokesperson Sfiso Shangase has called for calm.”We are pleading with taxi operators to ensure that, if ever there are any differences, let’s try and discuss them through negotiations.
“And we are also pleading with community members, if ever they have any information pertinent to these killings that have already taken place, let that information be conveyed to the law enforcement agencies for them to then act against the culprits.”
