SANEF to lay complaint after reporter abuse claims

The South African National Editors' Forum has described as 'disturbing' the allegations that reporters covering protest action outside Chatsworth SAPS were manhandled by police.
Thousands of people demonstrated outside the police station on Monday night following the death of Sadia Sukhraj during a botched hijacking in Shallcross.
SANEF has released a statement claiming some journalists were manhandled, verbally abused and thrown into a police van.
It alleges reporters were also forced to delete some footage.
"We will be laying a formal complaint with the Independent Police Investigative Directorate. We will also be calling for a meeting with IPID. Sanef condemns any abuse of journalists and the prevention of them doing their work," the forum's Mary Papayya said.
