Updated | By Noxolo Miya
The South African National Defence Force is coming to Durban to help rebuild some 23 bridges damaged or washed away in the floods.

Public Works and Infrastructure Minister Patricia de Lille's been in the province to monitor the progress made so far, in repairing infrastructure damaged during April's devastating rains.
Her spokesperson Zara Nicholson says they have roped in the SANDF to help.
"About 80 community members will also be employed during the duration of the bridges being installed. They will be employed through EPWP."

Nicholson says the Department of Transport will need to approve funding before the construction's given the go-ahead.
"It is very urgent and it is a bit behind and minister De Lille did emphasised the importance of making sure we fast-track and get those bridges installed as soon as possible so that can bring some much-needed life-saving infrastructure invention of those bridges to those communities in need."
