Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Salvation Army is appealing for help for the victims of the Isipingo fire.
Nearly a thousand people have been left homeless after a blaze tore through the Dakota informal settlement on Saturday night.
It's suspected a stove that was left on started the fire.

Affected residents are being housed at local halls.
The Salvation Army says its officers and volunteers have been helping them since Sunday morning.
Spokesperson Major Thataetsile Semeno says they urgently need some items.
"Over and above getting them food, we need blankets, mattresses, and clothing. The first two days were very emotional. People are thinking of what they have lost. Not knowing what is going to happen tomorrow.

"That has been a very emotional environment for them, but people are beginning to realise that they have lost things and are beginning to accept it. There is that mood and tension that they have lost their belongings."
