Authorities to probe allegations of arson at Isipingo shack blaze

Economic Development MEC Siboniso Duma says the are disturbed by reports that a large fire that gutted hundreds of homes at Isipingo's Dakota informal settlement was allegedly started on purpose.
At least 500 shacks burned to the ground on Saturday night, leaving many families destitute.
The residents are being housed in marquees nearby.

They are expected to start rebuilding their homes later this week.
Duma says they are thankful that no one was hurt in the blaze.
"After the Department of Human Settlement built new houses in the area of Dakota, we have learnt that the resident set their homes on fire.
"But we will go and investigate this, while government continues to build more homes and provide service delivery."

Duma attended the premier's crime-fighting imbizo at KwaNdengezi Sport Field on Sunday.
