Salga deploys specialists to KZN municipalities
Updated | By Noxolo Miya
Local government association Salga wants to get to
the bottom of the challenges hindering service delivery
in KZN.

It's deploying specialists to municipalities, including eThekwini, which was flagged for poor performance in the auditor general's report this week.
Despite issuing a clean audit - the AG highlighted concerns over water infrastructure maintenance and irregular expenditure among other things.
It recommended regular reviews of the city's sewerage networks and the drafting of new plans to address certain deficiencies.
Salga's KZN chair Thami Ntuli says these specialist will start their work by meeting with municipal officials.

"Auditor-General is reflecting the shortcomings within our municipalities, which is a wake-up call to the management of eThekwini that the issue of the infrastructure needs to be tied."
Meanwhile, the DA is expected to hold a picket at the SAHRC's Durban offices today over ongoing issues on Friday. The party will hand over a memorandum to the commission.
