SAHRC to release KZN water report on Monday
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The South African Human Rights Commission says it's ready to
release the findings of an inquiry into KZN's water crisis.
The commission will make its report public in Durban on Monday.
It says it's been inundated with submissions from community members and civil society groups.
Stakeholders at state and non-state institutions also participated in the engagements. The HRC says its office has received more than 600 complaints about access to water since 2020.
Inconsistent supplies, disconnections, poor water quality, and a polluted supply from the taps, and the provision of water tankers were some of their main concerns.

Utility billing disputes were also brought to the fore.
The commission says these issues potentially violate people's right to clean and sufficient water, which is why it set up the inquiry.
