SADTU: School management teams have huge task keeping schools COVID-19 compliant
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
School management teams are back at work for the start of the new academic year. Sadtu says the HODs, principals and deputy principals have a huge task ahead of them.
It's up to them to make sure that schools are COVID-19 compliant, before the return of teachers and pupils next month.
Teachers are scheduled to return to school on the 1st, pupils head back on the 15th.
The union's Mugwena Maluleke says there are still some concerns that need to be addressed.
"There are schools that have not received their PPE's which we believe that would have to be delivered because the teachers are only coming back on the 1st of February, so we have a week to ensure the school management teams are able to monitor and able to take stock and audit."

"We also concerned more about the psycho-social support that must be given to our SMTs as well as teachers and learners as they come," he adds.
As per the Government Gazette, private schools will reopen for lessons to begin on the 1st of February.
