Sadtu to march in Durban over vacant teacher posts
Updated | By Jarryd Subroyen
As teachers prepare to hit the streets in a SADTU-led march today, KZN Education says some of the issues they have raised can only be addressed at a national level.

SADTU members say vacant posts within the department aren't being filled.
They're also concerned about the slow transfer of funds to schools and how the school nutrition programme's being run.
The department's Kwazi Mthethwa says some of the concerns raised need the intervention of national government.
"Some of these issues are not on our jurisdiction to deal with. Some of these issues belong to Treasury. We have had a meeting with them to see how do we move forward. We think we have done enough for them to understand where we find ourselves," he says.

Teachers are expected to present themselves to school this morning before embarking on protest action.
"The process of teaching and learning will be affected. But we have measures in place. We will be left with no choice but to apply our policy of no work, no pay," he says.
Marchers are expected to make their way from King Dinizulu Park at 10am to Durban City Hall where a memorandum will be handed over to education officials.
