Sadtu KZN halts teacher protest
Updated | By Tsakane Mhlongo
The South African Democratic Teachers Union in KZN says it has put its work-to-rule protest on hold.

The union says it has received an assurance of financial support from the premier for the Education Department.
The union embarked on a protest, earlier this month, citing ongoing issues in schools.
During the campaign, teachers strictly limited their duties to teaching and skipped extra-curricular activities and meetings.

SADTU's Nomarashiya Caluza has explained the challenges they have been dealing with.
"Everything that you can think of at the level of the school [cannot be done] if the department does not give money. So, the work-to-rule was meant to put pressure [on] those in authority.
Caluza says they met with Premier Thami Ntuli last week.
"He commited R900 million to be sought from other departments. We then asked for another meeting with the HOD [on what will] then happen administratively."
