SADTU appeals for teachers pay rise after COVID-19 setback
The South African Democratic Teachers Union (SADTU) is appealing to government to make good on its promise to up teachers' salaries.
The union's issued a reminder about a three-year multi-tier deal, signed between the government and labour in 2018.
Government says pay increases, this year, weren't made due to COVID-19's impact on our economy.

SADTU's Xolani Fakude says that's not good enough.
"Its a moral and ethical issue, which means that you have got these very public servants who have been frontline workers whether it's in health, education, safety and security.
"They have been the frontline workers, the lowest-lying fruit that the government then targets. It's quite demoralising to be frank for us as public servants because we feel that we have given everything, but our employer instead is using our wages to save money."
