SACP denies mobilising members to protest at King MisuZulu ceremony
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The SACP in the Moses Mabhida Region has distanced itself from reports that the organisation's mobilising its members to join a protest ahead of AmaZulu King Misuzulu kaZwelithini's coronation ceremony in Durban.
Media reports suggest that a protest march is being planned in response to eSwatini's King Mswati's attendance.
He's expected to witness the ceremony at Moses Mabhida Stadium in his capacity as the monarch's uncle.

Last year, anti-monarchy protests erupted against the king of Eswatini, Africa's last absolute monarchy.
The SACP says a demonstration would be tantamount to disrupting Saturday's ceremony.
Deputy Minister Obed Bapela was speaking at a media briefing in Durban on Tuesday.

"Families and their own arrangements and we respect whatever arrangements that the family has. Those who want to protest, they have their right to do so. There will be designated areas for such, but it will be outside the stadium.
"Those who want to disrupt the president when he hands over the certificate and speaks - unfortunately, I don't think that opportunity will arise."
