Workers at its offices across the country have been addressed by the Chairperson of the SABC board Mbulaheni Maguvhe - during a general staff meeting held this afternoon.

Maguvhe says the corporation remains stable and has warned external forces to leave the SABC alone.

The public broadcaster has been under fire - following the suspension of three senior journalists, as well as yesterday's immediate resignation of Acting CEO and Head of News Jimi Matthews.

Recently SABC bosses have made a string of decisions including a ban on the broadcast of violent protests.

Media Union Bemawu's Hannes Dubisson, says despite petitions and a public outcry for the suspensions to be immediately lifted, there are claims of more reporters facing possible suspensions.

"I just received information this morning where someone phoned in and said that there's rumours that more people will be suspended but we have no further information at this point in time and we hope that this is not true," he said.
