SAA appoints acting CEO
Updated | By Jacaranda FM News
Former SAA CEO, Vuyani Jarana will not serve his three month notice, following his sudden resignation from the airline last week.
Jarana wrote in his resignation letter that he had not received the necessary support to implement the airline's turnaround strategy.
At a briefing in Johhanesburg earlier, the SAA board announced that Zukisa Ramasia had been appointed acting CEO.
The board's Thandeka Mgoduso says they met with Jarana on Monday.
"Mr. Jarana requested if possible - he be relieved of his responsibilities that he should not have to serve the three-month period. The board accepted. It has been by mutual agreement," Mgoduso said.

Board chairperson, JB Magwaza says Jarana was not pushed out of SAA.
"The board enjoyed working with Jarana. The board appreciated the energy put in by Jarana. If you were to ask me I have never come across a person who has worked this hard - and have the kind of commitment Mr. Jarana had. It's a pity that he decided to leave," Magwaza said.
