That is the view of DA leader, Mmusi Maimane.

NOW READ: South Africa unemployment hits 29 percent

The leader of the official opposition has been commenting after Stats SA released its Quarterly Labour Force Survey yesterday.

According to the survey, unemployment now stands at a staggering 29%.

Maimane says President Cyril Ramaphosa and his Cabinet need to roll up their sleeves and get some real work done to grow the economy and create jobs.

"Over 10-million South Africans are unemployed. We are calling on Parliament to convene so we can discuss a jobs bill. We call on all South Africans to get together and those who are employing people, how can we assist through tax incentives so they can keep people employed," asked Maimane.

He said Eskom remains a major concern.

"We need a plan so that we can, not only to keep the lights on, but ensure that we split it into two entities so that it doesn't put our economy at risk."

Eskom reported yesterday that it endured a R20.7-billion loss after tax in the 2018/2019 financial year.

The EFF slammed government, saying the lives of South Africans will decline drastically under the leadership Ramaphosa.

The red berets said in a statement that the current administration is also failing to bring stability to major State-owned companies.

Meanwhile, the UDM's Youth Vanguard says young people in South Africa are the worst affected.

It has reiterated the UDM's call for an urgent Economic Indaba to find ways to turn the economy around.

The IFP Youth Brigade says action is needed now to curb the rise in youth unemployment.
