SA records another 14 000 new Covid cases

Nearly 14 000 fresh cases of Covid-19 have been registered in the country in the last 24-hour period.
The National Institute for Communicable Diseases (NICD) says the increase represents a 31% rate.
Eleven more people, who contracted the respiratory disease have died, bringing total the number of fatalities to 90148.
Over 6 700 infections were confirmed in Gauteng, while KwaZulu-Natal saw a rise of 2 700.
The NICD's also noted an increase of 422 hospital admissions in the past 24 hours. Over 15 million people, over the age of 18, have been fully vaccinated against Covid-19.
Meanwhile, President Cyril Ramaphosa who was due to receive his booster shot this week is going to have to reschedule that appointment with the nurse.

The President's recovering from coronavirus and is being treated for mild symptoms.
The Presidency says he remains in good spirits and has encouraged those who haven't yet taken the jab, to do so.
