Police say one man has been arrested and another has drowned after they robbed a couple in their house near the Umtamvuna River close to the KZN and Eastern Cape border.
Its alleged the suspects tried to stab one of the victims, took their cellphone and then tried to flee from security guards by swimming in the river.
Spokesperson, Thembeka Mbhele says police are investigating a case of house robbery.
"At gunpoint, they demanded the cellphone from the wife. They managed to flee with the cellphone. When they fled, fortunately, a security guard noticed what happened. The other suspect drowned because he couldn't swim," she says.
