Durban security officer injured during robbery dies in hospital

The armed response officer who was shot while responding to a robbery on the Bluff, south of Durban, has died.
Blue Security says Phumzile Fitshane had been responding to a house robbery in Maxwell Avenue - three suspects were inside at the time.
He suffered two gunshot wounds in the line of duty and was rushed to hospital in a critical condition yesterday.

Spokesperson, Andreas Mathios confirmed the 44-year-old passed away in hospital last night.
"We're absolutely devastated at the news that our armed response officer passed away last night. Our condolences go out to his family and children. To the industry at large - we have lost a fantastic human being who was totally dedicated to his job and he will be sorely missed," he says.
The company says messages of support and condolences have been streaming in for Fitshane's family and loved ones. Management says it has been left devastated by his death.
Police say a cellphone and an airgun were taken from the home during the robbery.
