Rookaya Dhooma was shot dead after two suspects forced their way into their Duncan Road home last night.

Her son-in-law, Imraan Randeree was shot and wounded as he tried to fight the suspects off.

"They were in the house with the family. The forty-three-year-old noticed an unknown suspect coming in. They rushed to the door to lock the doors but the suspects managed to push the door open."

"The suspects then fired several shots towards the 63-year-old and the complainant. A case of house robbery, murder and attempted murder has been opened," Mbhele said.

In a statement, the Randeree family says Imraan is in ICU in a stable condition.

They are asking the public to refrain from circulating unverified Whatsapp and social media messages about the incident.
