Robbers hit Ndwedwe SASSA pay point

A South African Social Security Agency (SASSA) pay point in Ndwedwe, north of Durban has been robbed.

SASSA spokesperson, Sandy Godlwana says it happened in Thafamasi on Thursday.
"Armed men rapidly moved into the paysite and fired a number of shots. They attacked a security guard and robbed him of his firearm.
"The men then made off with an undisclosed amount of cash that was already assigned to pay masters.

"Two officials suffered mild injuries as they ran for cover. Arrangements are being made to ensure that our beneficiaries receive their grants. We would like to appeal to beneficiaries to also be very vigilant and exercise caution," says Godlwana.
She says the gang fled in a South African Post Office hired vehicle which had officials' cell phones, work equipment and other belongings.
