Richmond man jailed for double murder
A Richmond man has begun serving a 20-year sentence for a double murder two-years-ago.
Mandlakayise Gumede was convicted and sentenced in the Pietermaritzburg Regional Court recently.
Gumede was found guilty of murder following the death of two family members in the Patheni location.
The court found the 46-year-old had tried to burn a home down with a gas canister after a family dispute.
Police say the victims sustained severe head injuries while trying to take the gas canister outside.
