Updated | By Shaun Ryan
Residents of Ward 4 in the Mtubatuba Municipality, on the north coast, are heading to the polls today.
A by-election is being held following the resignation of the councillor who won the ward in the 2016 municipal elections.
The by-election in the area will be contested by seven parties. The ANC, ACDP, DA, EFF, IFP, NFP and UDM all have their colours on the ballot.
The IEC says the ward was previously represented by the ANC following the 2016 elections.
There was a 65.61% voter turnout in Mtubatuba's Ward 4 at the 2016 municipal elections.
The electoral commission says the ANC won with 37.62% of the valid votes. Meanwhile, by-elections will also take place in Johannesburg and Rustenburg in the North West.
