Residents bearing brunt of municipal strike - Dube-Ncube
Updated | By Lauren Beukes
KwaZulu-Natal Premier Nomusa Dube-Ncube says communities suffering with water and electricity outages are bearing the brunt of the municipal workers’ strike.

"The intimidation and the continued attack on the nine striking employees has resulted on the city not being able to respond to faults and restore basic services,” she told a media briefing in Durban on Monday morning.
Dube-Ncube and eThekwini Mayor Mxolisi Kaunda briefed the media on the interventions they'll be taking to end the ongoing strike.

Service delivery in the eThekwini Municipality have been severely impacted since disruptions started last week over salary disputes.
Dube-Ncube said police and private security have been sourced to escort staff to service delivery points.
"The turn-around in the electricity faults, water leaks, refuse removal - both provincial and municipal law enforcement agencies are also on high alert and we will act without fear."
