Rescue service keeping close eye on abandoned Port Shepstone baby
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
Paramedics in Port Shepstone are closely monitoring the condition of a newborn baby who was found abandoned in the Albersville area this week.
The officer who found him says it's a miracle he survived after spending two nights in biting cold conditions, with no clothes and his umbilical cord still attached.
Nearby residents who heard the infant's faint cry initially thought it was coming from a cat. They later alerted a local security company.
Kerwin Dickens who's with Lazer 911 says he found the 3.6-kilogram baby in dense bush in the residential area.

"I'll be just happy if he is in a good home where he is taught that life is precious and not to take life for granted," DIckens said.
