Reports suggest brake failure behind deadly Mariannhill crash - RTI
Updated | By Nushera Soodyal
The Road Traffic Inspectorate says preliminary reports indicate the brakes of a truck may have failed, causing Tuesday morning's fatal accident on the N3 near the Mariannhill Toll Plaza.

Four women died in the multi-vehicle collision on the Durban-bound carriageway.
Their bodies had to be extricated from their car, which was crushed by the trailer of a truck.

Three other people have been hurt.
"Fifteen vehicles are involved in that crash, including a truck that actually caused that accident because of the brake failure," says RTI's Zinhle Mali.
"We have a total road closure and we are diverting [traffic] at the M13."
