eThekwini confirms repair work has begun on city’s wastewater treatment plants

eThekwini Municipality Mayor, Mxolisi Kaunda says work is underway to repair the city's ten wastewater treatment works.
These include, uMhlanga, Phoenix, KwaMashu, Isipingo and more.
Speaking at a media briefing yesterday Kaunda says he’s confident that the maintenance work will go a long way in preventing the pollution of Umngeni River and the subsequent affluent overflow into the sea.

“The contractor is undertaking work in different phases which also include the mechanical and electrical repairs of the pipes. This work is expected to be completed in the 2024/2025 financial year, at a cost of R500 Million."
