Reopening of M4 between Umhlanga, Sibaya nears
Updated | By Nothando Mkhize
The M4 Ruth First Highway between Umhlanga and Sibaya in Durban is due to be reopened to traffic in the coming week.
Part of the road surface was washed away in November after a pipe burst during heavy rains.
It caused the embankment to collapse - resulting in the road being shut for reconstruction.
A final inspection was conducted on Thursday morning.

KwaZulu-Natal Transport MEC, Bheki Ntuli says the nearly seven-month closure affected the economy of parts of eThekwini and KwaDukuza.
"By Friday next week, this road will be handed over to people to use. This road is assisting the economy of eThekwini and Ballito - it has coincided with the easing of the regulations."
He says engineers have assured them the road is safe and will be able to withstand flooding.
