Removal of cartridge cases from murder scene lands Durban man in jail

A Durban man has
been sentenced to two years behind bars for removing evidence from a murder
scene.
Sifiso Mhlongo (29) was sentenced after pleading guilty in the Durban Magistrate's Court to obstructing the course of justice.
The NPA in KZN’s Natasha Kara says the matter relates to a shooting in Cato Manor where a man and his companion were killed in October.

She says after the incident, Mhlongo picked up the cartridge cases expelled from one of the firearms, removed them from the scene and kept them in his wardrobe.
"This conviction and sentence sends a strong message to people who interfere with the administration of justice thus protecting criminals from the law. The NPA commends the work done by the police investigating team and prosecution.
“We also acknowledge the courage of the community members who are brave enough to speak out on this injustice.”
